State statute sets a provision to register offenders and notify the public.
Offenders' whereabouts are verified at regular intervals based on "risk" level.
Information collected for law enforcement purposes can also be used to enhance community awareness.
The public notification process begins within 48 hours of an offender registration, or change of address.
